2016 has produced some pretty low points it has to be said.. But luckily, also some quality electronic music. Our resident electronic fan Aidan takes us through his top pics of the year..

Sundara Karma – Flame (Roosevelt Remix)

One of the best tracks of this summer.. Sundara Karma blew up this year and it was due, in no small part, to this outstanding remix from RooseveltCop this one for your next BBQ PLaylist.

Mark Pritchard & Thom Yorke – Beautiful People

Electronica don Mark Pritchard and Thom Yorke (of Radiohead fame) teamed up this year for a chilled, organic, Pre-‘A Moon Shaped Pool’ beauty.. Lush flutes and whistles meets gorgeous soft-synth sounds..

Throwing Snow – Lumen

Probably the most consistent electronic producer around.. It was watching his live set on Mixmag the other day that really forced my hand to stick one of these in the list.. Nobody else sounds like Throwing SnowThe guy pushes boundaries. Big Time.

Plaid – Do Matter

Can’t do an electronica top 5 without sticking at least one Warp Records release in there.. This one tops the bill this year for me. ‘The Digging Remedy’ was a masterclass in analogue synthesis. Beautiful, understated production.

Max Cooper – Waves

This one tops the bill for me.. Max Cooper has once again proved that he’s a pure don in the electronic world with his album ‘Emergence’. Intricate and intelligent music at it’s finest.
